In this assignment you are asked to apply your recovery-based assessment and problem- solving knowledge to the care of one service user you have worked with whilst on clinical placement. You must make up a story about a service user. You must describe, analyze and evaluate the nursing care delivered. You must also critically compare the care provided against examples of approaches/ models of care or assessment frameworks you have studied in years 1- 3 (e.g., The Tidal Model, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Strengths Model, The ABC-E Model etc.).You are expected to describe the assessment approach and interventions offered in response to the service user needs with the focus of this assignment on a critical exploration of the nursing care given. Service user confidentiality must be maintained, and the patient and setting MUST NOT be identifiable.
Briefly, (max 400 words) outline the service user’s applicable background/medical history and their current mental health needs (outline 2-3 main components max).
• In relation to the identified needs describe the assessment and planning approach used, any assessment tools used, and the interventions currently utilized with the service user.
• Critically discuss if the nursing care and interventions provided in relation to the service users identified health and social care needs are recovery focused, evidence based and aligned with best practice.
• Identify recommendations for future practice and provide a rationale for any alternative assessment approaches/tools or interventions suggested
• An essay of 3000 words allows you to make 4-5 main points, allowing for a brief introduction and conclusion
• It is better to write the introduction last because then you will know what the content of the essay is and you will be able to give your reader better direction (otherwise you will waste time trying to anticipate what you have to say)
• Choose the points you want to address and devote 1-2 paragraphs to each point (approximately 400 words per main point). The point should be clearly stated in the first line of the paragraph and the remainder of the paragraph should serve to elaborate on and substantiate that point. Ideally you should elaborate on the point as fully as possible before proceeding to your next point
