Assignments will be graded on content, organization and presentation of key points and strategies in both the paper and the presentation.
Each group of social entrepreneurs must create and pitch a program plan for a GLOBAL/INTERNATIONAL corporate social responsibility (CSR) or cause marketing (CM) program. Your program must involve a sports entity – league, federation, team or corporation – and a cause or social issue (please refer to the Cone Report for a list of social issues). Groups are encouraged to be as creative as possible and may also use sports celebrities/spokespeople, owners, sponsors or other stakeholders (such as non-profits), in their plan.
Your paper and presentation should clearly articulate the following:
Mission of your program; Use clearly defined Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely (SMART) goals with a global scope.
Market analysis for each program partnerJustification for the need of the program
Programs already in place by competitors, and how your program differs
Proof of how this program is aligned with strategic goals of the partners
The benefits to society (cause) as well as the sports entity and other partners.
Define your program as either CSR or CM (or a hybrid of both). Make sure what you propose fits the definition of CSR or CM _- single-sided donation to cause (CSR) or direct financial benefit to both (CM).
The strategies you will employ to achieve those outcomesLimit the strategies in terms of number so that you can provide more detail on the activation of each step of the program including the marketing campaign(s), delivery mechanisms and related costs
Justify each step in the program based on strategic interests of all involved
The costs involved to make your concept a reality.
The ROI and ROO for the program should be well-defined for each partner.
Monitoring & Evaluation – anticipated outcomes & how you plan to measure them.
Your written proposal should clearly include: overview/executive summary; field scan/literature review (must include at least one interview and one scholarly publication); statement of need (research-based needs assessment); mission; vision; initiative strategy (activities; timeline; staff structure); stakeholders/partners; monitoring and evaluation; marketing and communications; demonstrate ROI and ROO funding/revenue sources; budget (short-term / 1 year); plan for sustainability; & conclusion. NOTE: This is the basic format for the written Capstone project.
