In order to prepare you and provide as much feedback as possible for the final Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) & Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) assignment, there will be 4 activities (1 part per module) that will be used as drafts. Based on the feedback for each of these activities, you will be able to revise your work and resubmit it as part of the Final FBA & BIP Assignment. For activity 1, you will practice completing a target behavior questionnaire and an ABC log. Watch the videos below and review the readings to learn more about the target ABC (antecedent, behavior, consequences) approach. Make sure you also review the rubric before starting the assignments.
Note 1: You will be creating a fictional student to observe and collect data on . For the purpose of this assignment, your fictional student is a High School Student Age 15 Male that has an OHI Impairment of ADHD and ODD. The male student when becomes frustrated with any type of situation will react quickly without thinking and will “handle the situation”, student will cruse, disrespect and challenge authority, walk out of the classroom, and challenge if he has to complete an assignment and why. If you choose someone other than a student, just note that you might have to get creative in how you ask/answer some of the questions in the activities. In a real scenario, before a real FBA and BIP are considered for a student, the student should have gone through various interventions. The student qualification sheet Download student qualification sheet is a good resource to bring to the team meeting to determine if an FBA and BIP would be appropriate for a specific student.
Note 2: For the purpose of this assignment, you can be the individual who responds to the questions in the target behavior questionnaire if you have daily contact with the individual.
