Go to https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch
1. Locate the following:
Tesla’s (TSLA) 10-K (annual report) for the year ended December 2022,
their proxy materials for the shareholder meeting in 2023,
and amended 10-K for 2022 filed in 2023.
Answer the following questions with at least a few sentences each:
1.How does Tesla make money? What industry is Tesla part of, and what is the nature of the business? Please use the tools you learned about industry analysis to apply Porter’s five forces framework to the electric automotive industry.
2.Who are the potential users of Tesla’s financial statements? What are they looking for? Who is responsible for these financial statements?
3.What company audited Tesla in 2021 and 2022? How much were the auditors paid per year? What was their opinion and, in your own words, what does it mean?
4.Provide a summary (with no direct quotations) of the executive compensation structure for Tesla in 2021 and 2022. What was Elon Musk’s salary in 2022? Was Elon compensated is any other ways in 2022 (not including salary)? If so, please explain and include estimated values.
