Respond to 2 students discussion using the rise Model
Due Saturday January 20, 2024 by 10:00 pm
Must Read Everything:
Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback
I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.
Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.
The response to the classmate need to be just like this.
Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)
RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…” for a more weighted argument?

An “aha” moment
One thing I noticed is that counselors are always six months ahead, at least for the site I’m at. For the most part at the beginning of the year, they have the whole school year events pretty much all planned out. For example, they know the lessons they are going to do: talk about FASFA, college applications, Groups and more. Each Wednesday the counselors meet in the morning to go over items they need to work on as a team or issues they have been noticing. Mind you this is a big group of counselors as there are 12 at the high school I’m at.
It seems to me that they are always planning six months ahead for the little items. For example, last weeks meeting we were talking about course selection, planning the parent flyers for the three meetings we picked over the next three months, Working on the parent newsletters, Flyers on FASFA student help, Graduation requirements, and more. It seems that everything we worked on this month is in preparation for end of February till the end of school. It shows that counselors are prepared even before flyers go out a month ahead of time to work out any last-minute changes. It also shows that they are also ahead of the game. This is something I strive to do when I am counselor.

C. Describe your experiences with alternative pathways to high school completion.
Being at the High School has been a great learning experience for me. I was really nervous about being there mostly because of my lack of knowledge with transcripts, I knew the basic A-G requirements and credit information but there is so much more. I have been working in a lot of CTE classes, these classes provide the opportunity for college classes as well as pathways to graduation. We offer 7 different pathways. CTE, Smarter Balance, College credit, Advance placement, A-G, State Seal of biliteracy and Military. We have completed about 500 community college applications for our students in CTE classes. Most of the freshman students are hesitant to apply since “they don’t want to go to MSJC” We have to advise them that is the college that will give them the credit, but they can transfer them to any school they want once they graduate, we also advise that they can put this information on any resumes. I have to say that I find it interesting how little personal information students know about themselves for example place of birth, addresses, middle names or parent as well as parent information. I find myself going home and asking my son if he knows this information.
