Postoperative pediatric pain management
Pain management of postoperative pediatric patients is my clinical issue of interest. Lack of good pain management in these patients translates into longer recovery, more stress, and possible long-term psychological effects (Kulshrestha et al., 2021).
PICO(T) Question: To what extent is multi-modality more effective than single-modality in controlling pain in pediatric patients within the first 48 hours following surgery?
Search Results: Using terms like “pediatrics,” “postoperative pain”, and “modal analgesics” (Brasher et al., 2019), I searched comprehensively. At first, I had extensive results regarding pediatric pain management. My search results were refined as I introduced more search terms like “analgesia” and “single modal”. Therefore, four appropriate peer-reviewed studies with new research on this issue were chosen.
