Three months ago, you were appointed the new Superintendent of Schools in a school district. As you review your school district’s reading and math scores, you realize they are significantly lower than the average of neighboring districts that have similar demographics, funding, etc. Your administrators and teachers however explain to you that they are working extremely hard to meet the needs of their students. When you visit their classrooms, teachers seem to be working hard. However, you do not see evidence of effective and engaging teaching strategies or the development of 21st Century skills and competencies that will better serve the needs of your students. You also do not see evidence of Culturally Responsive pedagogy being implemented in your teachers’ classrooms. During formal observations, learning walks, and at meetings, it is evident that the teachers feel frustrated. In addition, this has had a negative impact on the culture of the building. As the new Superintendent in the district, you must develop an action plan to address these concerns and begin the process of change in the district.

Create a School District Improvement Plan (7-8 pages long) outlining the aims, goals, and objectives for your action plan, including how you plan to achieve buy-in, leadership opportunities, proposed professional development, resources that will support the students and teachers, and how you plan on assessing the progress of this endeavor. The paper must conform to APA guidelines and, when appropriate, reference the source material via summaries, paraphrases, and quotations. I will evaluate profiles using the assignment criteria and writing rubric.
Your action plan should include your specific actions, including the intended outcome or goal for each action.
For each action, identify the leadership principle and strategies you would use to support the change in your school.
Include the steps you would take to implement the action in your school.
Identify a potential problem/barrier to implementing the course of action you are recommending, and identify a specific, research-based strategy that you would use to overcoming the problem/barrier.
Cite research references to support your responses, i.e., (Fullan, 2005). Make sure that you list your references at the end of your final paper.
