This is a proposal topic that is about an open curriculum at Mott Community College. The problem is that there are not enough openings in general education at Mott and the student council has made it a part of their agenda to fix it, so I’ve taken it upon myself to provide a solution. The solution being an open curriculum like Brown University has.
I do have a proposal essay written, 6 pages long, but the problem is when I wrote it I couldn’t figure out which topic I should’ve done and so when I picked a topic I thought would work, it turns out it didn’t at all so I changed it about 3-4 days before it was due and scrapped the entire thing. What I turned in got a failing grade but it did receive feedback from the professor on what I needed to include.
This should be done in Microsoft word, and should include a properly formatted reflective memo of at least 500 words. My reflective memo is included in this(I legitimately had 40 minutes to write it). What to look out for in the reflective memo is the format, she wants it to be like a professional business letter, and the “Williams’s principles of effective design” (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity), this will be in the instructions.
The main thing about this is the audience, that’s the one thing I just didn’t understand at all. My audience is the student council at Mott, and the lion is the president, Aron Gerics. I wrote it addressing the students at Mott, so revise it to be more like a proposal to the Student Council.
Another thing is the budget, what will it cost to implement the open curriculum, what kind of training or curriculum reform will it take to implement and how much will it cost will need to be in a table, again, mine will be in there as well as the example essay. This is probably the most difficult part of the proposal.
Attached will be an example essay, different topic, same format; my essay on the topic with the notes from the professor on what was wrong(pdf comments); and the instructions for the essay in both a power point and screenshots including the rubric, proposal, and reflective memo.
