UAE has the highest rates of water consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, solid waste, and energy consumption in the world. Therefore, the rates of environmental pollution are relatively high compared to other parts of the world. Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) educates residents on the importance of preserving the environment. The UAE has a stringent waste management program that aims to protect the environment from degradation. The activities of numerous companies augment the policies and programs created by the Emirati government to protect and conserve the environment. Islamic teachings and Sharia consider taking care of the environment an important religious responsibility.
