Introduction

When it comes to the production of high-quality American cars, brands such as Dodge and Chevy are first all talked about. Undoubtedly, both companies are among the founders of a sustainable automotive industry. Dodge and Chevy have been known to compete closely throughout generations of American machine history, and they continue to compete today. Every brand strives to offer something unique to its consumers, whether they are looking for a stylish muscle car, a super-fast car, a robust pickup, or even a car that will go down in history. However, despite all the advantages of Dodge, Chevy wins in many aspects.

Dodge History

One of the first to advance in the car market was the company of the Dodge Brothers (Dodge Division). At the moment, this is a branch of the American corporation Chrysler, whose production is aimed at producing cars and off-road vehicles; headquarters are in Highland Park (a suburb of Detroit) (Sadler, 2019). Americans John and Horace Dodge founded their company in 1914, one of the first to start producing cars with all-metal bodies (Sadler, 2019). The small company initially worked for Ford and Olds Motor, producing components. Having gained experience, it collected all the technical innovations and directed production to its own cars.

After the death of its founders, the Dodge brothers, the company was sold to Chrysler in 1928. In the modern era, Dodge has become known for its models of the Grand Caravan minivan and the Avenger sedan. In addition to sportier models (such as the Challenger, Charger, and Viper), Dodge has a pickup truck to its advantage, usually branded as the Dodge Ram, which is one of the first muscle cars released in 1970 and is already a cult car (Sadler, 2019). Machines in production today still rely on basic technology that was created over 50 years ago. Moreover, Dodge does not plan to change traditions until at least 2023, until they release a new model, a next-generation model.

Chevrolet History

The history of the Chevrolet concern differs from the beginning of the path of all other famous car brands. Carried by the monopolization of the market, William Durant gathered several unprofitable companies under the guise of General Motors (GM), thereby exposing his automaker to financial difficulties and approaching bankruptcy (Sadler, 2018). In this regard, the main and first difference of the brand is its name, which was not received in honor of the founder of the business, unlike numerous other automotive brands. The brand Chevrolet was named Louis Joseph Chevrolet (1878-1941, Louis Joseph Chevrolet) the famous American auto mechanic and professional racer of Swiss origin (Sadler, 2018). The rise in popularity of the sports star, the racer, came at a black streak in the case of his future patron.

In addition to the problems with the auto industry, Durant is exacerbating the situation of the business, unsuccessfully speculating in securities on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1911, he turned to banks for support, which agreed to a fifteen million dollar investment in General Motors in exchange for Durants resignation from his leadership position (Sadler, 2018). Duran is forced to agree, hoping to restore the status quo eventually. The entrepreneur immediately offers the famous race car driver to launch the production of a new car. The brand gets the sportsmans name, and GM engineers with Durans money handle the technical side of the project. The calculation of the former head of General Motors was fully justified. That is how the now world-famous Chevrolet car appeared.

Brand Analysis and Comparison

When comparing well-known brands, Chevy or Dodge, the main differentiating factor will be the price range of the cars. Already at the base production level of Chevy and Dodge cars, the difference will become noticeable, as Chevrolet models are much more affordable than Dodge models, with a difference of about $ 8,000. Despite the relatively low price for a well-known brand, the buyer will receive a high-quality, powerful car that he will be satisfied with.

Chevrolet also outperforms Dodge in the selection of vehicles it provides, well outpacing the production of its main competitor. Chevrolet currently offers seven SUVs, three pickup trucks, two passenger cars, and three sports cars, and Dodge only provides one for each category. In addition, Chevrolet has a Chevy Bolt electric vehicle option, and Dodge does not offer such cars. Initially, at the beginning of their journey as brands in high demand, Chevy and Dodge created cars to compete with the famous Ford Model-T (Sadler, 2018). Chevrolet and Dodge worked hard for a long time to devastate the chances of becoming Fords predecessors and vying to produce top-selling models.

The JD Power reliability score for all new Dodge and Chevy models was averaged across both lines, with Chevy having the higher reliability score. None of the brands scored five out of five, but Chevrolet models generally scored above average in reliability. Furthermore, when averaging scores received by Dodge and Chevy models from independent testing agencies such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Chevy comes out on top (Sadler, 2018). It has better safety scores on most models and has two perfect 10s: a 2017 Chevy Bolt electric car and a 2018 Chevy Volt hybrid car. Even though evasion rates fluctuated around the standard and sometimes fell below average.

Conclusion

Both Dodge and Chevy have gone through a lot as car manufacturers. Both cars have a heritage of 100 years, which makes them good brands. During the time in production, both companies have received a large number of fans who have been satisfied with production for many years and are not ready to change the brand of the car. Dodge and Chevy rightly have the highest ratings, which are confirmed by time. These brands are often nearly equal when compared closely, and they both suffer from dull interiors. However, Chevy offers more types of vehicles, including electrified powertrains, so more people are likely to find a Chevy to suit their needs.

Comparisons between Chevy and Dodge are a frequent debate among car enthusiasts, and in this competition, Chevy ends up leading due to its price and reliability. In recent years, consumers around the world have been raving about models like the Chevy Cruze and Sonic. These cars have become so successful in part because of their legendary reliability. Dodge presents several notable vans and discounting them is not easy. Dodge has a distinctive exterior design aesthetic, especially in its muscle cars, with an undeniable fan base. While Chevy has steered its product line towards innovation by testing new electric and hybrid vehicles, Dodge has stuck to its reputation as a powerful car. Based on the analysis and comparison of such well-known brands in the manufacturing industry as Dodge and Chevy, to understand why the market is dominated by Chevrolet, which critics love as well.
