Step #1: Choose an Issue and Figure Out the Ideologies of Two Episodes About That Issue
You’ll compare how two episodes from the TV Unit portray a specific ideology about one central issue. To do this, you’ll create an essay that discusses each TV show’s genre, era, and production style to consider how that ideology operates in context of when the show was made. You’ll also use direct evidence from one specific scene in each TV episode to show how that ideology appears in the program. Be sure to use the readings as well to support your work.
To make this paper easier, I’ll provide some issues you can discuss in the essay. Issues you can talk about include:
Race, the experience of specific racial groups in the US, and/or racism
Gender, feminism, and/or misogyny

Humanity’s relationship to technology
Once you select an issue, you’ll need to think about what specific ideological message two TV shows have about the issue.
