First of all, I want to give you the definition of job and career. A job is defined as anything a person is obliged or projected to do. There is a specific task need to be done as part of the routine of one person for the salary income agreed. Through a job an employee can earn and attain to support his basic needs and welfare his family. At work, the employment contract between the employer and the employee must always be presented in the form of a contract and regulations. The basic goal of a job is to make profits for their employer, and the employee’s contribution is the labor to the company, and the employer will give their payment of wages. On the other hand, career is defined as an occupation that defined one’s profession, in career, it requires special training that can be used on the specific and related task they need for the development of their career.

It this world people considerably prefer a career rather than doing a single job, for example a production job in a factory company. Maybe some of us discuss that career in actuality is a job on the other hand. However, when we consider a production job, there is a big difference with a career job in terms of noticeable wages versus salary payment, repetitious similar work contrasted with continuing different work.

But if we will look at it, both work or fields are eventually trying to achieve a regulatory welfare for their self and for their family. For example, one man worked as a production worker for over five years after he left his career as a purchasing staff in the office due to less salary. The rate per hour at the production was twice the amount he was getting as a purchasing staff, and sometimes when there is overtime, production worker salary became more than twice. We all know that the work of the production worker is more tough, but what count is the salary earned at the end of the day. He had a good job as a purchasing staff, but if he was paying higher salary, he would never leave or give up that job. It is normal to think which is better and more beneficial, to stay in a career with low earning or to choose to have a new and different job with higher salary. This make sense, since all people are working to earn money and all of us want the most they can to provide for their welfare.

There is another similarity we can found between a production job and career job in terms of how the work was done. For example, a doctor and engineer, it’s a must for them to learn the necessary skills and they will apply it to finish or complete their work. It is similar to the production job, the person who is related to the work line should learn skills and apply it for him to complete his task. So, the work done in both fields involves learning, skills and implementation. A career job requires practicum for a new employee while a production job requires a training before the job.

Both job fields involve projects to work and to be done. A production worker may be required to work a task or a project related in manufacturing of the materials ordered by the client. In career job as purchasing staff, some different task or project may be required, such as calling and searching some suppliers to order the materials for the production of their client orders. Thus, both job fields involve different task, but helps to complete their work. They have different task but both of them need to complete their own job.

But in the other perspective even there is some similarity in both fields in terms of learning skills and application, sometimes we cannot change the reality that it is easier to change jobs in the same field of work that describe one’s career. In switching careers, it is more difficult to adjust and may require the person to start from the zero in the new career.

Lastly, I would like to present is about the self-fulfillment in a job. We can consider the job to be a place where an employee can learn new and interesting things that can help for him. This passageway of time and learning of new things will always takes place in any kind of job, be it a production job or a purchasing staff. A person sometimes chooses depends on their satisfaction in one field. For some people, working with their career job, gave them no satisfaction as they had always wanted to be involved in learning and searching for new things to do. However, when they feel that the career they have didn’t materialize, they will search and found a job which is not related to their career for the sake of happiness, earnings and satisfaction. Thus, my point is, although both fields are similar but the difference between the two will take place base on one person’s decision and sometimes it depends on their perspective which provides the best opportunity at a certain time of their life.
