What was your take on the solution?
For me it is okay for now to not legalize same-sex marriage because of different perspectives of the people that think morality will get fouled As I stated earlier we are a religious country with a strong belief in God, and for that, they will think that sanctity of marriage will be broken if the same-sex marriage will be passed. But for me, I’ll be open to their sides listening to their different perspective and aspects of how they see and think about same-sex marriage. As a political science student I go with the quote ‘nullum poena sine lege,’ which translates to “no punishment without law” So simply they can freely express their feelings and emotions In terms of choosing who they want to spend the rest of their lives with and whom to love for its their choice and life. But as a religious person, God gave us free will and all of us are pre-destined. So basically God has a plan for why He allows same-sex marriage to happen. But we still need to hear them out for they are all citizens of our country.
Own explanation
For me when it comes to the bible definitely it is a sin. We can read Romans chapter 1 or even the book of Deuteronomy which says it is a sin. Because the standard of right and wrong is not based on human laws but is based on divine laws, all human laws are basically based on divine laws. If we take away the divine law then we will take away the human law as well as the morality. Even the Quran is against same-sex marriage. If we talk about almost all of the religion that is based on morality, then same-sex marriage is a sin. Law also provides, It is stated in the constitution and in the family code—article 1. Matrimony is one of the sacred sacraments religiously speaking, two persons are intertwined together this signifies the beginning of their married life, This bond between them cannot be entangled it is not like a product with an expiration date because marriage is permanent in accordance to laws of the state. The foundation of the family is an intangible unit of society where the future generations are honed whose consequences, nature, and eventualities are bound and ruled by the law without authorizing requirements and conditions. Conjugal arrangements regarding property ownership in the course of the marriage are indicated within the boundaries of the family code. One of the reasons for marriage is not just about loving each other and the capacity to support a child financially, it is also about reproducing the same kind or having children. But in the 1987 Philippine constitution Article 2 Section 6 stated that the separation of church and state is inviolable but even if we exclude the bible and the religion, it is still against the Constitution.
The bottom line of the arguments everyone has the liberty to choose the person he will settle for the rest of their life and he/she is not prohibited from loving whoever he/she wants to love. Even heterosexuals can love even without the sanctity of marriage (live-in). But what the LGBT community is fighting for is their equal legal rights just like any civilized human person to enjoy the rights given by the state in different aspects of our government and community such as rights on their conjugal properties, hospitalization, inheritance, and other rights and obligations under the Family Code, which they cannot exercise because they are not legally married. The primitive laws and the history of the bible evolved as time progressed When Jesus relays his message to Moses about the 10 commandments and later on simplified it to make it succinct and orders us to love in place of the not-to-do’s, our Law can adapt also to the equality of rights.
Being transgender is not wrong they are respected for what they are and their demands for equal rights. Rights to property, conjugal laws, and the right to marry. In our opinion none of the ownership was deprived to them they are treated equally by the society. As a catholic country, we should respect the divine law imposed by god on its people. The right to property and other rights they are demanding for equality was a violation of their constitutional rights. You cannot change the fact that they are women and men biologically, they are free to choose whoever they want to decide to settle for the rest of the rest of their lives without denigrating the sanctity of marriage. In our opinion, it is merely propaganda disguised as promoting their homosexual acts because once same-sex marriage is legalized the prevalence of homosexuality will follow veiled in the pretext of championing equality for marriage. A customary or wrong habit will never become accepted as decent no matter what ideology you fabricated.
