The social disparity has always been an integral part of human society. The emergence of money made this problem even worse. People became very dependent on this remedy. Money became the main standard, according to which a person could be determined whether he/she was successful or not. It is quite natural that there are rich and poor people in society. However, if the number of the last ones is extremely great, this tendency becomes threatening for the country.

Poverty can be very dangerous within the framework of social relations and the functioning of the state (Little, 2013). With this in mind, it is necessary to investigate the main aspects of this issue in order to avoid its dangerous aftermath. It is possible to suggest that there are some main reasons for poverty, which are the ineffective political system, discrimination, and mistakes of the rulers of different states.

Traditionally, there were several reasons for poverty. In ancient times the majority of the population lived under horrible conditions in the state of constant poverty. There were several reasons for such a state of affairs. First of all, it was connected with the political system of ancient states. Poor people were the main source of income of the privileged minority. Being discriminated against and exploited, they had no chances to improve their state as nothing depended on them.

Moreover, rich people and government were not interested in the improvement of the state of these people. Besides, very often, the rulers of different states were not able to provide wise economic policy, and poor layers of society suffered from it, becoming even poorer and more miserable. That is why discrimination, the inability of a ruler to create a good economic system, and traditional estates system based on segregation were the main reasons for poverty in past times.

However, things changed. The modern age is proclaimed to be the era of humanism and tolerance, that is why such notions as segregation and unfair attitude to people which is based on their social status should be forgotten. However, the phenomenon of poverty still exits. There are, of course, some new reasons for it, however, the old ones are still topical. One of the main reasons of poverty nowadays is incorrect actions of the leaders of states which lead to crucial mistakes in planning. As a result, people lose their main sources of income. Being not able to earn money, people become despair and deprived of their living maintenance.

Another important reason of poverty nowadays is the political systems of states. With the development of society things have little changed. People still depend on the rulers of a country. There is a great number of examples when existing political system is ineffective, however, it cannot admit its mistakes because of the questions of the ideology and prestige (Summers, 2014).

Having analyzed the main causes of poverty, it is possible to give some recommendations. Accepting discrimination, ineffective political system and arrogant rulers of states as the main reasons of poverty, it should be said that people must be more active and involved in political processes nowadays. Things have changed and it became possible to influence political course of the state and its main priorities. That is why, population of a country should watch attentively changes peculiar for existing political and economic system of their country in order to prevent disaster and stop government in its inefficient policy. Poverty should be extirpated in modern society.
