People nowadays can easily move from one region to another. There are many people who migrate for several different reasons. Migration means “to move from one country, place, or locality to another” (Merriam-Webster, 2013, p. 1). People migrate to get a good life and new environment. Moreover, there are some people who migrate to change their lifestyles, which means moving to developed countries for a good living. However, there are negative effects which may arise from migration. For instance, high population in other countries may cause some issues such as pollution and other impacts on the locals. Demand for a better job and wars also cause migration which contributes to brain drain and economic problems.

Occasionally, urban jobs are preferred to rural employment. Unlike rural jobs, urban jobs are attractive and very constrained. Their wages are exogenous and constant in many institutions. Most people associate industrialisation and infrastructure development with creation of employments. Unfortunately, urban areas are the only places that are well served with diverse industries and good infrastructures.

Therefore, people move from rural areas to urban areas in search of jobs that arise from construction of industries and infrastructures such as road building. Since time immemorial, wars were the kingpin of migration; emergence of wars forced people to move from one place to another in search of refuge. Wars cause tension and stress; to avoid life full of panic, people prefer migrating to other full of promises environment for their expansion. Wars are also associated with lose of lives. Unfortunately, no human affords losing his/her own life knowingly. Thus, people migrate to protect their lives.

Migration has diverse effects; some are positive whereas others are negative. Unfortunately, the negative effects of migration bypass the positives. For instance, it causes economic problems and brain drains. Rural-urban migration is associated with negligence of the rural areas. In most occasions, it leads to emergence of economic imbalance between urban and rural areas. For instance, it leads to rapid growth and development of urban areas at the cost of rural areas. Migration from rural areas to urban areas in search of jobs also leads to advancement of poverty levels in rural areas. This is because it involves movement of strong and reliable people to urban areas.

The settlement of job seekers in the urban areas also leads to emergence of economic pressure. For instance, urban settlement enforces any state’s government to invest a lot in facilities such as health apparatus in order to meet the demand of the cropping population in the urban areas. Migration is also associated with (brain drain) movement of talented and highly trained individuals from one place to another.

In most occasions, the migration of people leads to movement of skillful persons from one place to another; it leads to lose of potential persons to other areas or countries. Majority of the Africans have the tendency of emigrating and living abroad in search of well paying jobs and good living standards. For instance, over 70,000 Africans leave their homeland every year looking for jobs in industrialised countries.

In conclusion, people migrate from one place to another because of different reasons. Some migrate in search of good life while others migrate because of high demand for good paying jobs. In most occasions, migration is also associated with wars. Some people migrate from one place to another in search of refuge. Migration has many effects; it leads to brain drain and economic challenges.
