Introduction
The occurrence of teen pregnancy has been on the rise, the consequences have not only affected the girls but also their families. There may be no preventive measures to the same unless it is identified what leads to the same. In this research, we will focus on the teenage girls and the elder ladies, who may have been victims of teenage pregnancy. The research will mainly be done in education centers that are dominated by teenage girls as well as centers that are to take care of the girls who fall victims to teenage pregnancy. We will also identify a few ladies that were victims with the aim of finding out how it happened and how they were able to overcome the situation (Guttmacher, 56). In interrogating teenage girls, our aim will be to find out how much they know about their sexuality and the avenues that may make them engage in sex at this stage. For the teenage girls that are already pregnant or have been pregnant, the research will be carried out in a form of a counseling session so that they open up. The aim of the study is to inquire on how they found themselves in the situation and how they are coping with the same. Below are the research questions to be used:
Research questions for the teenage girls
- How much do you know about your sexuality?
- How is sex education carried out in your school?
- How about your parents, are they open to teach you about sexuality?
- What do you think of the girls that become pregnant in school?
- Do you think you can be a victim of teenage pregnancy? If yes why? And if not, what measures are you applying to protect you from the risk?
- To the victims of teenage pregnancy
- How did you become a victim of your current state?
- How do you feel about your situation?
- What are some of the challenges that you are facing?
- Are you receiving any support from family and friends?
- How about the father of the child/pregnancy?
- Do you think things would have been different if you had access to certain information?
Other study materials
Apart from the interviews that will be personally done, our research will also be based on research materials that have been collected in the past. This will be with the aim of finding more accurate figures considering the limitations that the collected materials will be having. We will compile information collected from different areas to give us a wider view of the topic of study. The purpose of using different research procedures is also to compare how the problem was then and how it is now. Information obtained from the study questions will be more real and current while those collected from previous research materials will be old and hence not real (Babbie, 22). The research questions will also focus on a few individuals and institutions which will not be a reflection of the entire society, other research materials will however give us a clearer picture of a bigger society.
The outcome of the study
From the results that will be obtained from the research, we will be able to know the extent of the problem. This will hence facilitate in identifying measures to correct the occurrence. It has been identified that what mostly leads to teenage pregnancies is inadequate sex education which leaves the girls with inadequate information on the same. There is also the issue of improper use of contraceptives which makes the girls vulnerable. Some parents are also still shy of talking to their children about sexuality. They generally lack the strategy of doing it and think that it will be too much for their children to take in. they leave the responsibility to the teachers who may not be able to exhaustively handle it. The research is hence aimed at proving or disapproving the allegations and also finding out how serious each allegation is.
Conclusion
Even though the problem of teenage pregnancy is mostly blamed on the girls for their irresponsible nature, it is a question of the entire society. Most of the girls do it because they are not adequately informed about their sexuality. At their stage, they are going through very many changes which require the entire community to be involved. Even though some of them may be unruly, there can always be a strategy of making them understand their stages. Due to the changes taking place in their bodies, they are bound to make certain mistakes (Cherry, 45). It is up to the parents and the teachers to encourage and support them so that they do not fall into the mistakes once again. Teachers and parents need to cultivate a good relationship with the girls so that they open up to them. They should be more of friends to them than they are guardians so that they open up to. Teenage girls need a lot of understanding and appreciation which should be advanced to them by their parents. Most of them tend to look for love and attention somewhere else which makes them succumb to such issues.
