The significance of the immigration debate in the nation has been verified. To maximize national prosperity, my multicultural society project team at the regional government level advocates for an Immigration Designed to Enhance American Lives (IDEAL) immigration policy. Proposals for immigration reform that help both native-born citizens and foreign-born residents are more likely to be enacted. Allowing more legal immigrants to work in the United States by paying the federal government for the chance creates a compromise between opposing interests, as proposed by IDEAL (Kuhn, 2020). The collected funds might be utilized to ease the financial burden on native-born Americans or improve their lives in some other way.

The United States must have a strict screening mechanism to keep out immigrants who pose a danger to public safety or national security. This is the central tenet of the IDEAL Immigration program. Biometric background checks and meticulous screening for previous criminal history, including checks across all U.S. security databases, would be required of ideal candidates (Kuhn, 2020). If those checks came up clean, they would be interviewed by experienced consular officials who would only issue visas if they were satisfied that all of their questions had been answered satisfactorily. Similar to the present system of background checks, security checks, and other processes to prevent dangerous foreign-born individuals from entering the United States, this new approach would be significantly more stringent.

The IDEAL Immigration reform aims to steer future immigration through legal routes where the government can better enforce laws prohibiting the admission and entrance of criminals, terrorists, and other risks at U.S. borders. All IDEAL candidates, like most applicants nowadays, would be required to pay a processing fee in advance to cover the price of doing background checks and conducting visa interviews.
