Introduction

Within the sphere of public administration many factors particularly, political and the public pressure influence the decision-making processes. Therefore, it is critical to understand how the political process and the public pressure influence decisions in the management of public affairs.

Such important knowledge can be achieved through the recognition of the required responsibilities of policy-making in the management of public affairs, the practical objectives that has to be attained, the communication protocol, the available opportunities as well as strengths of the public organizations.

In fact, public administrators are torn between the prior management knowledge obtained through education and training as well as political processes that influence their daily operations.

Successful public management involves steering clear of any public and political confrontations, extenuating potential risks and the capability of solving problems or coming out of difficult situations. Research and development in this area becomes critical component for the success in the public management.

In addition, understanding the binding rules of public administration and political process becomes significant component in decision-making. The reason is that public organizations are political institutions where decisions and policies are made through opinionated process. In other words, public institutions, administration and political processes are intertwined and must work together as a complement.

Therefore, this study will explore the extent to which public demands and political processes influence the management processes in the public institutions.

Background of the study

The study will be both empirical and theoretical (Creswell, 2009). The empirical study will determine the relationship between political processes and the public administration.

In addition, the study aims to determine empirically the relationship between the public demand and the civic management processes. The empirical study will also determine the correlation between the attainment of the public institution objectives and the political as well as public actions.

The theoretical objective of this study is to examine how the political and public process influences the management of government institutions.

Moreover, the study aims to find different approaches in public management that will take into consideration processes within the public and political domain. The study will theoretically explore how various public institutions have attained their objectives amid political and public pressure.

Problem statement

The realizations that political decisisons and the public pressure are often affecting public institutions have created immense problems in the part of management. Lack of knowledge on how the political and public processes influence the administrative decisions has led to many public managers seeking further training on the public management and administration processes.

Most recently, public organizations have realized that the quality of the services delivery and the attainment of the objectives are influenced largely by the political decisions as well as the public demand.

Purpose of the study

The purpose of this study is to determine the extent in which political and public actions affect the management of public institutions. In addition, the study aims to establish the relationship existing between the public demand and the management processes in public institutions.

In essence, the study seeks to determine through quantitative analysis how public affairs management is influenced by political processes and public demand. Further, the study will establish procedures and guiding principles forming the basis of the public management processes creating checks and balances from political and public influence.

Research questions

The study seek to answer the following questions upon completion

  • How do political decisions and public pressure affect management processes in public institutions?
  • To what extent do political decisions and public pressure affect the attainment of management objectives in the public institutions?

Hypotheses and variables

The study will test the following hypothesis

  • H1: political processes and public demand have positive influence on the administration of public institutions
  • Ho: political processes and public demand have negative influence on the administration of public institutions

Theoretical framework

For this research to meet its obligations, it will be an exploratory research. The reason for the choice of this methodology is due to its innovation of novel ideas that is required in the public administration (Richey & Klein, 2008).

Through exploratory, the research will come up with new and clear concepts explaining the dynamics and processes in the management of public affairs, set up main concerns, build up on operational explanations and improve on the final research design (Reynolds, 2007).
