Numerous institutions have described libertarianism as the political philosophy that argues that the guiding principle for both the political and social setting should be that of individual liberty. It’s mainly concerned with the rights of individuals or typically the one fundamental right referred to as liberty and hence the name- ‘libertarianism’.

An individual right to liberty is similar to the right to be free, that is, to do what you want. The main issue that arises in libertarian is whether the right to liberty is a negative or a positive one. For instance, a libertarian will assert that Fred has a right to liberty which implies that he has a right to play hockey. The mind of the libertarian at this point will assert that people are refraining Fred from exercising his right. This is however a negative view of looking at issues. This brings us to the second definition of a libertarian; a person who believes that other people’s rights are always negative. Liberty is the right to do what you want, without restriction or interference whatsoever. This has to be an equal right for all persons.

Generally, many institutions see libertarians as a welfare-state closure of persons who want to abolish the government net role. Libertarians are also considered to be extremists and thus urged to reform and get real. The most compelling fact about the existence of the welfare state is its great rationalization in fighting immigration. It is difficult to have both immigration and state welfare run simultaneously. Libertarians describe immigration as a way of helping the poor and not the Americans who are already at the high percentile of the world economic distribution. There is therefore no need for libertarians to apologize to social democrats. Libertarians are the main defenders of immigration and therefore the heroes in the world. There are superior ways of tackling the whole issue rather than stopping the poor from immigrating, they argue. We should have guest workers instead who are only entitled to work but not to collect welfare. As much as helping the poor fills the gap of real humanitarian, the welfare state is exorbitant. The country has to be a ‘die-hard’ state to be able to supply handouts to these people. This will affect the economy of the state as the taxes used to fund them are quite high. Thus as much as helping the poor is good, using the tax may not pass a cost-benefit test. On the contrary, it may be argued that free markets are the key campaign for anti-poverty.

Numerous reviews have suggested that the reason for immigration is enhanced by the free market. Developing countries are therefore encouraged to introduce free markets in their countries to decline immigration. It might be true that libertarian rhetoric is not popular today among institutions. However, this is true since the two powerful politicians, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, retired from active politics and the significant fall of the Berlin wall. From a serious ideological and intellectual perspective in the two continents, the US and Europe, the free market is gaining ground. The real and viable vision for the future may be accomplished by either the libertarian or non-libertarian. Recently, Europe has experienced an explosion of the plethora of libertarianism. The network of the European free market and the Stockholm Network now have more than 130 members. People should therefore restrain from interfering with each other or infringing their properties. This however frightens the non-libertarian as the government cannot use its machinery to get other individuals to aid others. All this does not necessarily mean that the future will be libertarian. The fighters of the government still exist and such anti-globalism and fundamental terrorist plays a major role in supporting libertarians. The libertarian movement is therefore growing stronger each day. This will not only change the definition of politics but it will change the whole world.
