The reading has revealed the historical features and its artistic design which Cairo has been able to build up over the years since ancient Cairo to what it is today. Cairo is a triumphant city also known officially as Al- Qāhirah (the victorious), is considered to be one of the largest urban residential and business areas in the world and it offers the tourist many historical sites and has a very rich ancient cultural historic background. Golia, Maria in her article she stated that the city is the administrative capital of Egypt and is located in northern Egypt along the great River Nile which passes over nine other countries hence, it is an essential resource that needs to be managed properly as it’s the main livelihood of the cities citizens. According to Abu-Lughod, (1965) this city edges all the historical great pyramids in Egypt like the pyramid of Giza also inclusive for the eyes of the tours that venture into sightseeing in this region are historical ancient tombs, temples, Egyptian antiquities museums, Christian churches, and magnificent Muslim monuments. All this and many more tourist attractions are harbored by this magnificent city beneath the sun as the locals so acclaim.

The building that is associated with this city is mostly neo-Arabic shaped and they reflect the religious believes of the locals although there are mixtures of old and modern designs from museums to malls known as khan el-Khalili souk the local version of shopping bazaars.

According to the readings, the streets of the cities are narrow with tall buildings and are highly populated. This has mainly been attributed to the population of the country whose much of it is a desert. Therefore, the most habitable region in the country is Cairo city which occupies half of the country’s population. Although the streets are noisy and crowded the security because of the beliefs of the locals is very good. The streets are narrow and long filled with merchants hawking curios and other items and children playing in the streets because of the nature of the artistic design the city has adopted. Playing fields are in the outskirts of the city due to the development of the modern town although this town is a mixture of modern and historic, some estates date back to historical times of the pharaohs or the ancient times.

Golia, Maria in her article she stated that Cairo city has a rich culture which is oriented heritage bequeathed by the Pharaohs, it is surrounded by many art galleries with ancient art fractures that date back thousands of years and also in this art museums are manuscript of the blue prints of the ancient art and design plans of building projects by the pharaohs on buildings dating back to AD and BC. The town has a rich musical background and harbors ancient music halls like the Cairo opera and Khedivial Opera houses.

Transport in this major city comprises an extensive road network. Subway system (metro), maritime services, and rail system, makes moving around about the city very easy and convenient. The traffic is very crowded because mainly of the narrow streets but most of the number of vehicles on the road that makes it be fluidly paced.

Cairo can be defined as one of the most desirable destinations cities for one to take a vacation to; the weather and the historical sights all have the allure that is essential for any tour applicant. The historical designs and art all form a perfect combination of a network of virtues that makes this city great for any tour pursuant with enthusiasm on historical and ancient literature or just for fun.

My opinion in the reading is mainly based on ancient Egypt and the role of Cairo in its early civilization and how religion and culture have shaped its artistic design which makes the city distinct from others whose settlements were nearly the same period. The author of the reading and the photos are rich in content which had made it easy for me to interpret the readings and provide my opinion.
