Jamestown was the first English colony which was established in 1607 in Chesapeake Bay area in Virginia under the coordination of the London Virginia Company which was exploring gold in this area. After 10 years the colony of Plymouth was founded in Massachusetts Bay. Although they were started at the same time they both developed differently in terms of economically, politically.

Politically

Jamestown had the habit to change leadership often due to their lack in faith in the system of ruling making them become unstable politically for a long time compared to Plymouth had faith in their political leader making the region to be stable economically. The first legislative assembly was held in Jamestown this is where the American Heritage was started. While in Plymouth pilgrims initiated a self-governing agreement.

Economically

Jamestown had fertile soils and climate which were best for agricultural large scale plantations of tobacco making Virginia to be the chief exporter of tobacco. Its terrain provided secure defensive sites while Plymouth has poor soils for farming. It had good coastal regions which were best for harboring. Due to its deep water which was good for navigation and its geographical position made it an ideal place for trade. It had a lot of forests which attracted lumbering and construction of ships. It was also good place for fishing.

Socially

Inhabitants of Jamestown were inexperienced, lazy and had poor survival tactics lead to attack of diseases, lack of food and poor relations with Indians led to political instability and wars. Although Plymouth incorporated teamwork and hard work as part of their culture and values, they also died of hunger with were caused by natural catastrophes like diseases and other extreme environmental hazards.

Religiously

The Jamestown people are not devoted much into religion as it was not what brought them to the bay. The bay was started by people who were searching ph of wealth and gold. So they are not strict in religion this can evidenced in their yearly celebrations. The Jamestown remembered the day when their ancestors reached the Jamestown by celebrating the Thanksgiving Day. They Were Anglicans by faith which is England’s official Church.

Religion was the chief reason why the people moved to the Plymouth. They came to this new world in order to avoid persecution and to run away from the corruption of the Dutch lifestyle which they felt will have an effect on their children losing their English lifestyle. They rebelled from Anglican Church and started their own church which is called congregational church. They gave thanks to God for his blessings annually.

The Impact of the American Revolution on Disadvantaged Groups

American revolution war which was fought between the Great Britain and 13 Briton colonies was started in 1775 to 1783 on the North American continent It marked the peak of the American revolution by overthrowing the British rule.

The American Revolution did not change the society in a great deal as it was seeking to reserve the rights and freedoms includes economic, political, social and religious rights and freedoms and not to create or increase them. Hence the disadvantaged (women, slaves, Indians and poor) were less affected by the revolution as they were strangers to course of the war. This revolution was for the aim of maintaining the status quo of the white Americans. Many argue that the revolution did not change the society at all.

During the revolution women’s role was much recognized even they were called mothers for the new nation. It had a positive effect on the place of white women in the society This revolution inspired many revolutions which gave hope to women especially the white women whose rights in the society had been looked down to seek for freedom and equality in the society especially equality to voting and the right to be listened or heard in the society, in the long run, their quest for freedom was limited even if they were granted the right to vote. After the revolution, women started to have an impact on the public society they were considered as an equal companion with man and thus promoting the relation ship of man and woman to a bonded one. They were known to be the mutual companion of man.

American history had some effects in slavery institution. A large number of slaves attained there freedom by participated in either side of the war at the end large numbers of slaves were killed while others ran away. Both sides of the revolution knew that slaves cold play an important part to in the war. The royal of Virginia promised freedom to slaves if only they will join him from the opponent side by suggesting that the revolution was the fight against slavery.. The revolution caused the end of slave trade by banning it especially in Northern states of America where if was completely stamped out. In spite of this, there was no complete stop in slave trade and this did not make slaves to be equal with other whites. Although British promised them all the freedom after the war, to them they were a mere force and still the elements of slavery existed even after the revolution. They were still looked down as slaves although the revolution gave them hope for future freedom, equality and independence.

Iroquois (indigenous people of North America).since members of the Iroquois confederation fought on bought sides of the revolution it was eminent that whoever was to win the Iroquois confederation was to be destroyed. After he American revolution and once the war was over, Native Americans were molested by violation of their treaties they once signed, many forced to attend residential school system whose aim was to induct them into white American culture and values, American Indians and natives of Alaska had their rights on equality infringed and often looked at as wards of stated. The Iroquois confederation tribes started civil war among themselves this caught the attention of the American solders who wanted to punish them for role they played in joining the British forces in fight against the them. They killed them (Iroquois confederation), destroyed their houses and property and forcing them too flee. Still there is existence of the confederacy although it was much destroyed by the British and American forces.

America independence came to relieve of the disadvantaged as it sought equality since in the American preamble all men whether women or slaves were created equal. This really was important to the disadvantaged.

The constitution which was written well after the independence provided protection of rights and further included many rights like the freedom to speech, press and freedom of religion, protection against cruelty and corporeal unusual punishment, which the disadvantaged never enjoyed this is called the bill of rights.
