Introduction
Abraham Lincoln grew up in a poor farming family but achieved great heights and became one of America’s most beloved presidents. His political activities are remembered for his fight to abolish slavery. Throughout his life, Lincoln proved many times what an American leader should be. Leading the Conservative Party, winning the Civil War, and successfully unifying the country later are examples of Lincoln’s accomplishments through his leadership skills.
Discussion
Firstly, he rallied the people of the north and won a war that did not begin in his favor. Moreover, he conducted constant diplomatic work with the countries of Europe that intended to intervene in the conflict and posed a real threat to national security. The second example of Lincoln’s leadership skills is his political activity. During the war, there was a decisive split in the Republican Party, with most of Abraham’s supporters favoring a drastic abolition of slavery. Lincoln’s communication skills prevented conflict within the party and preserved its principles of free speech (Richardson, 2020). Thirdly, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address is considered one of the most famous speeches in the entire world. In the aftermath of the war, there needed to be no animosity in society over political views, and Lincoln was able to change the position of so many people in such a short speech.
Conclusion
Thus, Abraham Lincoln most likely possessed various communication skills that allowed him to persuade and reconcile people. He could inspire a crowd, resolve conflicts within a collective, and maintain unity among his supporters. It cannot be said of him that he possessed skills only in a particular area, for his success as a leader concerned all of his endeavors virtually.
