Introduction

Speaking about the simulation video that we were supposed to watch, it is necessary to mention the fact that all the manipulations were shown in a quite detailed way (RHIC Simulation Center, 2016). In general, I suppose that there are many things connected to the video that can be regarded as useful and right from the point of view of the patient. To begin with, I would like to pay attention to the sequence of actions performed by the nurse. Personally, I suppose that the process of examining the patient was performed successfully as the nurse paid attention to all the measures that could be important in that particular situation.

I think that it is important to indicate such details in order to help the future specialists to be able to remember the necessary actions and their correct order. Furthermore, discussing the things that went well in the given video, I would like to mention the way that the nurses collaborated. When the patient’s nurse left the hospital room, a problem with his breath occurred. At that moment other nurses who nearby came to him immediately and they started helping him and giving necessary recommendations. As for me, it was one of the most successful things concerning the simulation because nursing belongs to a number of spheres where a lot of unexpected situations may happen, and the importance of mutual assistance between nurses should not be underestimated.

Main body

As a part of the task, we are also supposed to criticize nurses’ actions and decisions if we believe that something could have been done better. Personally, I cannot say that any actions taken by the nurse who was working with Charles could be regarded as unnecessary or performed in the wrong way. As for me, if I were his nurse I would make almost the same decisions that the nurse from the video made. Thus, I suppose that her strategy was good and effective, and it also supported all the needs of the patient that was essential for success. Moreover, it was obvious that she paid attention to active collaboration with other nurses and the doctor; it is known that such collaboration significantly increases the chances of positive outcomes for the patients (Sollami, Caricati, & Sarli, 2015). Therefore, I believe that the nurse’s performance is really successful and there are no things that need to be done in another way.

Conclusion

I can definitely say that this simulation video was really helpful for me as it encouraged me to generalize everything that I already knew about hospital care. Furthermore, it gave me an opportunity to see the process of providing the patient with care as it is. Besides, I was paying increased attention not only to a series of actions performed by the nurse but also to the way she talks to the patient. It may be stated that the way that you formulate your requests and suggestions maybe not so important in certain unexpected situations when there is a need to address the issue as soon as possible. Nevertheless, during usual communication with the patients, it is extremely important to be always polite and demonstrate your positive attitude towards them in order to ensure that they feel comfortable (Liu, Gerdtz, & Manias, 2016). In the end, the things that I have learned from this simulation include the proper ways to communicate with the patients and collaborate with other nurses and doctors.
