Health centres and hospitals have doctors and nurses as the main employees. Most of the administrative and management duties are therefore carried out. With the increase in education and expertise in this current generation, many non-medical administrators have replaced the doctors in these administration posts. The duties of these administrators vary from department to department. These sections include the Inpatient desk, outpatient desk, billing section, recruitment office, training office, technical bench among the rest.

Medical administration is very wide. Many groups of personnel work in various offices to ensure the efficiency of operations in these hospitals. This is the backbone of any organization. They perform various ruling roles in hospitals and other medical institutions. Many support staff and assistant administrators also take part in this noble duty. Medical administrators are general CEOs of hospitals. They are heads of both private and public hospitals.

Administrators spearhead all the operations in their institutions. They receive instructions from the board of directors and trustees and act on them. Administrators work towards ensuring that the clients are satisfied. They do this by providing excellent services to both the patients and their treasured employees (Herthel W, 2008).

They are also charged with the responsibility of organizing projects, direct them and coordinate their services in their institutions. Recruitment of new employees and workforce is their responsibility. They do this through posting advertisements, interviewing and later training the qualified personnel into the posts (Tomasi, 2004). Budgeting, accounting and other financial management are other duties of this team. This is thoroughly coordinated. Any officer in need of more materials first formulates a purchase order then forwards it to this office for verification. They also prepare payrolls and salaries for hospital workers.

New management strategies are also initiated by the hospital management. These include new technology like software, new machines and equipment, and new services which they could Introduce to put their institutions ahead in the competitive market. Client feedback systems are also monitored by the management. Proper databases are kept to ensure success in this. This system also helps to track unpaid money for the services offered (Herthel W, 2008).

Hospital administrators are also charged with the responsibility of initiating projects and developments. They organize fund drives and write proposals to request funds for these pursuits. The education and training of more health workers are monitored by the hospital administrators. They propose the best training modules and syllabus in the UK. They also contribute to the development of health care policies in the country. This they do through the boards, clubs and other organizations of medical interest.

Medical administrators interpret, direct and implement the policies and programs in the health care sectors. This includes policies on HIV and AIDS, vaccinations, abortions and others. Human resource administration is another core duty of hospital management. Through this, all workers are coordinated and their welfare is taken into consideration. They also hold doctors accountable through repeated supervision and the signing of performance contracts (Tomasi, 2004).

In conclusion proper hospital administration has great benefits. This is enjoyed by the core clients (patients) and the employees. Satisfactory delivery of service is the fruit obtained from good management. Even though management roles in hospitals have been dominated by medical experts, this field is gaining popularity among administrators from other fields like engineering, arts and education among others. Little orientation is however necessary before taking office.
