The American Journal of Infection Control covers issues on infection control and, therefore, is used by health professions as a reference on clinical tops. It provides a platform to write and review infection control and epidemiology related articles (AJIC, n.d.). Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) being an infection upsurge that has been of health concern, becomes a topic of interest and, therefore, the site will provide an opportunity to present my project which will be available in one of its journals (AJIC, n.d.). The article will highlight on how to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infection rates with a focus on evidence-based practice.

The hand-washing techniques will provide more knowledge to the health care providers on urinary catheter care, result in a change in practices, and promote great reduction in the incidences of CAUTI thereby, reducing patient mortality and morbidity rate and the cost of care.

I selected the Nursing World Conference (NWC) for my paper on effective handwashing to reduce CAUTI. The fifth edition of the NWC will be held from 18th to 20th October 2021 in Orlando, USA (5th Nursing World Conference, n.d.). It would provide a great opportunity to present my work, where I will give my sentiments on washing of hands when handling a urinary catheter as a paramount practice to protect the patient and the health care provider against harmful germs.

The conference will give a platform to air the instances where the health care provider should observe handwashing with soap and clean, running water. These occurrences include before touching the patient, before performing the aseptic procedure for the patient, in case of body fluid exposure, the health care provider is to wash their hands to prevent the exposure risk and after touching the patient and the patient’s surrounding. The information will be available on the site’s homepage and through live streaming.
