Indeed, sound health is achieved when one is said to be well and fit physically, mentally or emotionally. It is also achieved through the adoption of healthy practices such as eating of balanced diet and exercising that enhances an individual’s wellbeing. This report gives comprehensive information about health, wellness, and fitness. It focuses on the key factors that promote individuals’ wellbeing and the importance of health regarding sportspeople.

Health and wellness

As noted by Alcena (2007), health and wellness are interrelated aspects that define an individual’s physical, mental and psychological status. Living a healthy lifestyle means living a life that is not characterized by a lot of medical complications A healthy person is one whose production capacity is high and can manage his activities in an exemplary manner (Alcena, 2007). Consequently, wellness is the optimal health standard that covers the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capacity of an individual. An individual who is well lives a healthy lifestyle without any serious issue that may compromise his production capacity.

Variably, fitness that remains a common word among various individuals especially in the current world is the improved physiological state that enables individuals to advance their health status. Physical fitness is a critical aspect that individuals for example sportsmen who want to be well and operate under absolute health conditions should ensure. This is because it enhances body cardiorespiratory capacity, flexibility and muscle capacity. To avert the evident complications individuals must make good lifestyle choices (Jorum, 2010). They should also understand and adopt key elements or incentives that contribute to good health. These factors include proper nutrition, chiropractic care, enzyme balance, physical conditioning, revitalizing sleep and having a positive attitude.

Self-planning for a healthy lifestyle

Effective planning for a healthy lifestyle requires immense determination and dedication by the planner. This is essential in ensuring that the plans are relevant, favorable and are capable of guaranteeing individuals wellbeing (Navratilova, 2006). That is individuals should make good lifestyle choices that hold the capacity of minimizing the risk of attracting any chronic complication or disease such as diabetes or cancer. They should follow a health planning system that requires one to be physically active, quit smoking, control blood sugar.

The planning system also requires one to keep a healthy weight, maintain healthy blood pressure, eat a healthy diet and maintain favorable cholesterol levels.

These steps are critical in enabling one to achieve a healthy lifestyle. What is important is for one to make the right choices and decisions on the issues raised. For instance, being physically active is vital in ensuring effective blood flow in the body, proper circulation of oxygen, good body composition and muscle flexibility (Navratilova, 2006). It plays an essential role since one cannot execute various activities effectively without an efficient flow of blood and the distribution of oxygen.

Quitting smoking is also vital in maintaining a healthy health standard. This is evident since smoking is a major cause of lung cancer and heart diseases that present severe effects to victims. Variably, controlling blood sugar and eating healthy meals are essential elements that foster a healthy lifestyle. This is apparent since high blood sugar causes severe health complications that include diabetes and blindness, hence, should be maintained at low levels (Demetre, 2009).

Preparing for physical activity

Indeed, individuals must adopt a proper plan of activity and understand what they need to do before and after engaging in any physical activity. This is essential in ensuring that they do not expose themselves to severe activities that may jeopardize or compromise their health capacity. As noted by scholars, physical activities are always intense ventures that individuals engage in for various reasons such as to keep fit. The activities require a stable body that is not deficient in nutrients or the necessary enzymes that foster wellness (Jones, 2005).

The scholars affirm that before engaging in any activity, individuals must ascertain the nature of activity or exercise, they must plan for the exercise psychologically and they must develop an appositive attitude towards the activity. This is significant since attitude defines the productive levels of individuals in most instances. The establishment of health conditions, physical conditioning, and chiropractic care capacity also form key elements that must be ascertained before engaging in any activity (Jones, 2005).

After engaging in any activity or fitness exercises individuals should first bathe, change clothes and take refreshments. They should always drink water to cushion themselves from experiencing dehydration related complications. They should observe their diet after the exercise and ensure that they take a balanced diet. This is crucial in enabling them to regain the energy lost during the exercise and strengthen the nerves. Thirdly, they should monitor their blood pressure and sugar levels to ensure that they are in favorable conditions especially for those who suffer from chronic diseases. Fourthly, they should refrain from taking high-risk substances such as tobacco and consumption of meals with the high cholesterol content.

Stress management

Stress management is the process of eradicating severe conditions that are caused due to boredom and low esteem. Stress impedes an individual’s performance capacity and may result in a high level of fatigue (Gregson, 2000). It also limits an individual’s social, mental and emotional stability which is vital for holistic development. Variably, stress compromises body stability and development that may lead to unplanned death. This is evident based on its symptoms that include loss of weight, appetite, body flexibility and muscle capacity.

This explains why individuals should develop viable modalities and strategies to ensure effective management of stress. The strategies must be socially relevant, physically sound and culturally acceptable. Firstly, individuals can manage stress by engaging in various activities. The activities are to make them occupy most time to avert stress related complications that strikes when one is idle. Secondly, individuals can manage stress through interaction with other people to enhance the achievement of their social satisfaction.

This is important since most studies indicate that inability to meet social needs exposes individuals to stress related issues that compromise their performance (Gregson, 2000). Further, continuous exercise to enhance body fitness contributes to ensuring stress eradication. It makes all the body functionalities such as muscles, brain, nerves to be active and vibrant. This helps in ensuring that the body is always in a sound state hence, eradicating the chance of boredom attraction.

Cancer

Cancer is a lifestyle disease that is increasingly becoming a common killer disease in most nations. It presents dire effects to victims since results in low productivity and total incapacitation. According to the American cancer society (ACS), cancer is the second-most killer disease that is contributed by lifestyle complications and age factors. The society stated that one out of three American men lives with cancer. The number is bound to increase especially in the future where it is has been estimated that everyone may contract cancer if drastic measures to mitigate its spread are not put in place.

The society advises individuals to monitor their lifestyle activities and make good choices that hold the capacity of enhancing their health status. That is individuals should constantly take in a balanced diet, perform various exercises and stop consumption of lethal substances that may affect their wellbeing. The society cited the three most cancer types that most men suffer from in the present world. They include lung cancer whose causes are related to intense smoking, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer. Prostate cancer is common among men of all races especially the Hispania’s, blacks and whites.

It affects the internal organs of various individuals that in turn affect their functionality levels. The disease can be averted through constant exercising, consumption of nutritious food items and limiting cholesterol products. Lung cancer is widely known due to its severe nature (Yeung, Escalante & Gagel, 2009). It mostly attacks individuals who are smokers and alcohol consumers since the smoke that they inhale is what contaminates the lungs. Consequently, colorectal cancer that is increasingly becoming common should be averted to hinder its spread.

Diabetes

Diabetes is another lifestyle disease that is becoming prevalent in most settings. The disease exposes its victims to severe suffering and long time treatment. It may lead to instant death if not maintained properly by the use of insulin injections. The disease is caused when blood sugar is not proportional to the amount of sugar that is needed in the body. That is it may attack individuals with low or high blood sugar levels (Yeung, Escalante & Gagel, 2009). Therefore, its mitigation is dependent on how one can control the amount of sugar in his body. It can also be mitigated through systematic involvement in various activities and exercises.

Major types of diabetes include type 1, type 2 and type 3, diabetes. Type 1 diabetes does not subject individuals to severe suffering as compared to type two and three. This is evident since type 1 diabetes gives a victim a life expectancy of 69 years while type two gives a life expectancy of 59 years. The expectancy period of type two diabetes is less compared to type one because it drains a victims immune system more vigorously. Maintenance also requires a lot of resources that most individuals are lacking.

This makes most individuals succumb to its effects early. Type 3 diabetes also present dire consequences to victims that lead to a high death rate. Indeed, individuals who suffer from diabetes should be able to exercise a lot and eat a balanced diet to facilitate their wellbeing (Yeung, Escalante & Gagel, 2009).

Conclusion

Indeed, achieving good health, absolute wellness and physical fitness requires proper planning and the making of the right lifestyle choices. The choices must be based on key aspects that foster good health and wellness to ensure that the performance capacity of individuals is not affected. Achieving good health requires one to take nutritious food items, observe chiropractic care, and perform physical conditioning. Individuals should also perform body cleansing, have adequate sleep, develop a cheerful outlook and do exercises. These factors are instrumental in enhancing individuals’ health status, especially the sportsmen.
