Introduction

The study sought to investigate the impacts of classroom seating layouts on students’ performance by analyzing three seating layouts. Thus, determining the most advantageous seating layout for students’ performance and participation in the classroom. Three seating layouts are investigated to assess student’s performance at each stage.

Discussion

The main research question was whether seating layout and arrangement had an impact on the performance of students. This formed the basis of the investigation where students in a classroom were purposefully subjected to experimental design research for data collection. Several assumptions were made to ensure that only classroom layout designs were investigated amidst several other factors that could contribute negatively or positively to the student’s performance. The sample comprised 23 students from a population of 526 in a school.

The study used SPSS for the data analysis with the use of data in Excel. The assumption method was used in the study. The study was also based on a set hypothesis the researcher developed before the survey. The research was based on mixed research design and quantitative analysis techniques. Descriptive statistics were also used in the study, such as ANOVA. Descriptive statistics involves the use of measures of central tendency and measures of variability in the analysis of the data. Standard deviation was used to interpret the data and later tabulated on bar graphs and box plots. The bar graph was used to determine the pre-test and post-test of the data. The study was done further by involving the use of inferential statistics and the comparison of means to determine relevant statistical tests.

The study was based on a sampling method in the selection of participants. The results of ANOVA analysis and correlation analysis were all significant. The latter indicates that the research hypothesis was valid and thus trues that classroom layout directly influenced students’ performance. Based on the assumption, it is more likely that the students gave true responses during the survey. The descriptive analysis frequencies showed that student performance was better due to the introduction of the new classroom layout. The study also found that the horseshoe classroom layout is the best plan teachers can implement because it has the highest average score among students.

Conclusion

Summarily, it is evident that teachers need to use specific layout designs to influence positive outcomes in student performance. The study also recommends seeking better ways to enhance classroom layout to motivate students to achieve their best in their studies.
