The mission statement of a company communicates the aims and the objectives of the company. The company takes its time to come up with its mission to show its overall goal to its employees and other stakeholders. Without a mission statement, it would be hard for the company management to set its employees goals and the overall objective of the company.

This essay paper would focus on the mission statement of Safeway Company that is under machinery industry. How the mission statement relates with the company culture and initiative will also be discussed. The mission statement of Safeway Company states, “Our goal is to be the first choice for those customers who have the opportunity to shop locally in a Safeway store” (Drafke, 2009).

To achieve their mission, Safeway has incorporated some guidelines to ensure that they achieve their intended goal. For instance, for a long period Safeway has been aiming to be best at fresh, available, offering the best customer services, and trying as much as possible to offer the best products at affordable prices.

These are aims meant for their customers, as well as for their employees to ensure that their customers get quality products compared to their competitors (Pearce & Robinson, 2011). The main objective of Safeway management to fulfill their intentions is to become the first choice for their customers. Without the help of the employees, Safeway would not be able to fulfill the desires of the customers, as the customers rely on the assistance of the employees.

The culture of Safeway Company has relied upon the mission a great deal. This company has taken the proper course of action without straying from the right path of achieving their objectives. Without the mission statement, the employees may tend to forget the purpose of the company and their specific goals within the organization.

It is possible sometimes to find some employees spending time in doing things that are not adding value to the company. The mission statement plays a great role to get back the employees and the entire company to the proper course of actions (Drafke, 2009). Through the application of this mission statement, Safeway has managed to clear any doubts in the mind of customers through proving their capabilities and intentions.

The information contained in the mission statement especially about serving the customers, have enabled this company to ensure that there is availability of what the customers need in the store (Pearce & Robinson, 2011).

On the other hand, when customers realize that Safeway serves all their needs under one roof, their trust and loyalty grows day by day. Through the availability of various products in Safeway stores, more and more customers are attracted to the company hence an increased productivity. This behavior has developed over a period making the company so reliable to the customers.

Customer’s perception concerning a business is very important, as it is one of the factors, which may retain such a customer in the business or make him never to come back again. The company mission is very crucial, as it will always act as the determining factor of whether the company is trending towards the achievement of the goals or is straying away (Pearce & Robinson, 2011).

If there were an opportunity for the company to explore, the mission statement would as well be used to determine whether it is applicable to both the customers and the company or not. All the initiatives and the development of the company would mostly rely on mission statement of the company.
