Background of the Client

Many people encounter numerous challenges in their lives. Such challenges can affect their careers, dreams, and objectives. Mentors should empower their clients in order to produce the best goals. The targeted client for this exercise is John White. John is currently working as a manager in a small firm. This friend of mine is unable to achieve most of his career goals (Connor & Pokora, 2012). Most of his employees have been quitting their jobs. The company has failed to record the best profits. A proper strategy will make it easier for John to achieve his career goals. John White has become an ineffective manager. He does not use the best leadership strategies. This malpractice has made him less successful.

John White is not aware of the challenges affecting his performance. This situation explains why a powerful strategy is required to help him. John’s problem should be resolved in order support his goals. The approach will also make the company successful. The approach will ensure John is on the right path. John White also wants to achieve most of his career goals. A proper mentoring approach will equip White with the best skills. This practice will make a difference in his life. I will use the Skilled Helper Model in order to support John’s needs. This “model focuses on the current, preferred, and action scenarios” (Passmore, 2010, p. 54). These three stages will eventually produce the best outcomes. The important thing is to improve White’s leadership competencies. This exercise will eventually make John White a successful leader.

Brainstorming the Best Solutions

A powerful client-mentor relationship will produce the best results. This relationship identifies the major issues affecting the targeted client. The duty of a mentor is to support the needs of his or her clients. The practice will produce the best goals. The first step “is gathering the best information from the client” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 47). Such questions will make it easier for the client to present the best responses (Nash, Sproule, & Horton, 2009). I used the following questions during the exercise:

  • What are your current strengths?
  • What is your current leadership strategy?
  • What resources do have at your disposal?
  • What are your career goals?
  • What strategies can produce the best outcomes?

The responses presented by John White made it easier for me address his problems. The client stated that he was always passionate about his career. He also identified his personal strengths. Some of these competencies included “effective communication, problem-solving, and commitment to his goals” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 49). He also wanted his employee to follow orders. He also expected his employees to focus on the targeted goals. According to John White, the company was using the best resources in order to emerge successful. John wanted to become a successful manager. He was also unaware of the best strategies to redefine his leadership strategy. I used the above responses in order to identify the best mentoring strategy. We came up with a powerful strategy in order to support the client’s needs. It was my duty to define the best coaching strategy. This approach would produce the best outcomes. The best “realistic goal is encouraging the client to embrace new values and concepts” (Nash et al., 2009, p. 235). This approach will make John a successful leader.

Strategies to Achieve the Targeted Goal

John White wants to become a competent leader. We identified several strategies in order to produce the best results. The “Skilled Helper Model makes it easier for mentors to support their clients” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 47). The first approach was to identify the most applicable strategy (Connor & Pokora, 2012). For instance, many managers use effective leadership strategies in order to achieve their goals. A good example is “the transformational leadership model” (Passmore, 2010, p. 82). John White can collaborate with different managers. He can also read widely in order to acquire new competencies. He should also embrace the best leadership concepts. John does not encourage his employees to form the best teams. We also identified “the internet as another potential source of meaningful information” (Passmore, 2010, p. 108). This strategy will make it easier for John to achieve his objectives.

This exercise made it easier for us to identify the best strategies. The important thing was to identify new practices that can produce the best results. We also formulated the best vision for John White. I also encouraged John White to embrace new leadership theories. Such theories can make him a successful leader. The proposed plan would make John successful. He was also ready to use new leadership concepts. A proper “strategic plan identifies the best purpose, goals, and vision” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 83). The practice will make it easier for John to achieve his goals.

Summary: Where the Client Should Go

My duty is to address John’s problems. I will always listen to his problems and obstacles. John White should embrace different practices in order to achieve his goals (Connor & Pokora, 2012). The client should use the best action strategies in order to become a competent leader. To begin with, the client should acquire new leadership concepts. I will encourage him to “embrace new skills such as teamwork and collaboration” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 109). John should also interact with his employees. The individual should read widely in order to acquire new competencies. The approach will make John White successful. A proper strategic plan will encourage the client to identify a powerful vision. The next practice is working hard in order to achieve the best goals. I will also encourage him to use the best leadership theories (Passmore, 2010). For instance, a transformational leadership approach will make John successful.

A proper action plan will ensure the client focuses on the best outcomes. John should “also practice widely” (Nash et al., 2009, p. 236). John should also collaborate with different employees and managers. He should motivate his employees in order to achieve the best goals (Nash et al., 2009). This new leadership practice should also become a critical part of the John’s career. John can also use different approaches in order to become a successful leader. A proper plan will make it easier for the client to focus on the best outcomes. John should “avoid being egocentric in order to support his employees” (Connor & Pokora, 2012, p. 97). He should also embrace the best ethical practices. He should use his new skills in order to support every employee. These proposed actions will eventually make John White a successful leader.
