A Brief Historical Review and Mission Statement

A Brief Historical Review

Created in 1901 by John F. Queeny, Monsanto has grown into one of the largest agricultural biotechnology corporations in the world (Ewing and Kindle, 1). It invests heavily into research and development into different types of plant species in order to increase yields, protect against disease and insects as well as significantly lower the costs related to farming (Monsanto Company SWOT Analysis, 1-9).

Current Mission (s) or Purpose (s).

The current mission of the company is the development of viable and effective plant varieties through extensive research and development. Such activities, which are closely monitored by regulators and the management of the company, is concerned with the enhancement of present day farming operations wherein better yields through more advanced crop types results in lower prices and happier consumers.
