Movies can be used by the producers to highlight significant occurrences in society. They can criticize evils in society and the mistakes committed by the government in the process of implementing certain policies. The movie, X-Men: Days of the Future Past, illustrates how issues keenness in the execution of today’s policies can help avoid problems in the future.

The movie is a conflict between pro-sentinels and pro-mutants. It begins when the sentinels are busy killing all mutants and anybody who assists them. One of the characters, Pryde, decides to help the mutants run away from the sentinels’ wrath using his ability to return the consciousness of the people around him back in time. He uses this ability to project Wolverine’s consciousness back to 1973 for the purpose of saving Trask from Mystique’s sword.

In history, Mystique had murdered Trask, but Trask’s friends had arrested her and used her genes in developing more powerful sentinels. Wolverine also succeeds in freeing Magneto from a cell, where he was imprisoned for allegedly killing J.F. Kennedy. However, he could not succeed alone: he needed help from Xavier and Maximoff, whose speed is supersonic. Meanwhile, Mystique carries out his research and realizes that Trask uses mutants in performing his experiments with the sentinels.

She disguises her appearance in order to kill Trask in France, but Xavier and his friends suddenly appear to save Trask. Trask convinces President Nixon to adopt his sentinel plan, but later, when Mystique saves the president from being killed by Magneto, he cancels the sentinel program.

This movie’s actions imply that many things that go wrong today could not have gone wrong if certain things had been done correctly in the past. However, human beings lack the ability to go back into the past to rectify the mistakes they made. For example, if the people who killed President Kennedy had been identified before they had executed their plans, the president could not have died. Therefore, the movie also implies that human deficiencies prevent them from doing many things that could make their lives more comfortable.

On the contrary, the actors in this film have many capabilities that make them better adapted to life compared to human beings. For example, Maximoff travels at a very fast speed while Pryde can take the consciousness of his fellow characters into the past.

Maximoff’s speed is crucial in helping Wolverine free Magneto from a cell underneath the Pentagon, one of the most protected areas in the world. On the other hand, Pryde’s ability helps correct the mistakes committed in the past: helps prevent the assassination of Trask from taking place.

The costume designer was very careful in assigning costumes to the characters. In the 1973 scene, most of the characters dressed like men of 1970. For example, Jackman wore a peacock print shirt; Hours had corduroys, Mystique had a bodysuit that had scales, and Xavier wore battle fatigues. Cyclop puts on eyewear, which was designed by Oakley Inc. The costumes properly depict the setting of every scene, especially depending on the time when the events occur.

In summary, the movie describes how human inadequacies are responsible for preventing them from correcting future problems today. It uses characters that have the abilities that people lack. Maximoff moves at a very fast speed; Pryde can return other characters’ consciousness back in time, and Trask can make other strange creatures. Human beings lack all these abilities.
