Introduction
‘Once brothers’ is a film is a story about two friends from Yugoslavia, Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic. They played together from 1986 to 1990, being close friends, but they were driven apart emotionally due to the Yugoslav wars. Unfortunately, Petrovic died before they could solve their differences. A big part of the film is based on Divac’s sadness and remorse that his friend died before they reconciled. The story illustrates experiences that international players go through as they adjust to the National Basketball Association (NBA).
‘Once Brothers’ Film Review
The film tells a miraculous story of Petrovic’s journey toward being an NBA star. He was doing well before his death, which was felt by many people, including his home country. They realized how important he was and the contributions he made to his teammates and friends. The film is exceptionally interesting for people who love games, especially NBA fans. Divac and other characters describe the experience of playing as a foreign-born player. They express challenges like lacking confidence in one’s ability, playing a different game style, and language barriers as they adjust to the NBA. The film also showcases numerous NBA stars who love to talk about Divaic and Petrovic’s relationship. Such include Petrovic’s team’s good experiences involving Derric Coleman, Kenny Anderson, and Clyde Drexler or an interesting sitdown between Magic Johnson and Divac (Tolajian & Levitt, 2010). Overall, the film is interesting, giving insights into the NBA and the strength of relationships between friends.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ‘Once Brothers’ teaches many things about American sports life. It is not only a history lesson or a drama but also demonstrates that the American dream is not just a fantasy. While there are many potential challenges in the way, people can still be great, making a difference internationally. Aside from that, the film serves as a stunning reminder of how strong the Yugoslav national team was before the civil war splintered it.
